Meet Pipa- The Sloth Who Joined the Stubborn Sloths Family

Pipa the sloth resting in a tree, as shown in the FAHLO tracking app.

There’s a new member of the Stubborn Sloths crew, and she’s a little slower, a little sleepier, and a whole lot more magical than the rest of us.

Her name is Pipa (pee‑puh), and thanks to the FAHLO Wildlife Tracking Program and The Sloth Conservation Foundation, she’s officially our sloth.

Her name is Pipa (pee‑puh),

and thanks to the FAHLO Wildlife Tracking Program and The Sloth Conservation Foundation, she’s officially our sloth.

We adopted Pipa as part of our commitment to celebrating sloths not just in our art, but in the real world where they climb, nap, snack, and stubbornly thrive. When we opened her tracking bracelet and saw her name for the first time, it felt like being handed the beginning of a story — one we get to follow, share, and protect.

Pipa lives in the lush, tangled rainforest of Costa Rica, where the trees grow thick and the canopy hums with life. She moves at her own pace (naturally), spending her days curled into leafy hideaways, nibbling on her favorite snacks, and occasionally surprising her researchers with a sudden burst of “sloth speed.” She’s gentle, quiet, and wonderfully mysterious — everything we love about sloths wrapped into one tiny, fuzzy ambassador.

How FAHLO and The Sloth Conservation Foundation Help Sloths Like Pipa

Our adoption of Pipa is part of a bigger mission — one powered by two organizations doing incredible work.

FAHLO Wildlife Tracking Program

FAHLO partners with wildlife conservation groups around the world to support research, habitat protection, and species survival. When you adopt an animal through FAHLO, you’re not just getting a bracelet — you’re helping fund real conservation work and gaining access to live tracking updates that connect you directly to the animal you’re supporting.

The Sloth Conservation Foundation (SloCo)

SloCo is based in Costa Rica and is dedicated to protecting wild sloths through science, education, and community programs. Their work includes:

• Building and maintaining sloth crossing bridges to keep sloths safe from power lines

• Restoring and protecting critical habitat corridors

• Conducting research on sloth behavior, genetics, and health

• Educating local communities to reduce human–sloth conflict

• Supporting rescue and rehabilitation efforts

Together, FAHLO and SloCo make it possible for sloths like Pipa to live safely in the wild — and for people like us to follow along from afar.

Why Pipa Matters to Us

Stubborn Sloths has always been about celebrating the slow, the steady, and the wonderfully stubborn. Adopting Pipa felt like the most natural extension of that mission. She’s a real-life reminder of why we create what we create — to bring joy, spark curiosity, and support the animals that inspire our brand.

This blog will be her home base.

Here, we’ll share:

• Pipa’s latest tracking updates

• Fun sloth facts

• Conservation insights

• Behind-the-scenes looks at how she inspires our designs

• And the occasional “Pipa moment” that makes us smile

Whether you’re here for the science, the story, or the sloths (honestly, same), we’re excited to have you along for the journey.
